~My Story~

~Me & Oreo~

My name is Alissa, and I am a youth Jersey Wooly breeder.  I absolutely love Woolies; they are definitely my favorite breed!  (Did I mention that they are addictive :)  Anyway, I have wanted rabbits since I was in kindergarten (about 11 years ago), and my dream has finally come true!

I brought home my first Jersey Wooly in March of 2006, and I have been in love with the breed ever since!  That little squirrel doe was sooooo cute!  Anyway, I brought home four more Woolies that summer and began breeding that Fall.  My first litter consisted of three healthy Siamese Sable does.  (I was so glad that there were no problems! ) There's a good story to this though, so please take a minute to read on. . .

I bred my Siamese Sable doe with my Broken Smoke Pearl buck and waited.  I checked on her for three days until her due date.  (Keep in mind here that I didn't give her a nest box because I had bred her before and nothing happened.  The buck had been sterile from the hot summer.)  Her due date came and went. . . no babies.  However, I did notice that on her due date, she acted funny.  She didn't eat right away like she normally does, she just sat in a corner of her cage.  Well, I gave up, I even considered selling her because I thought that she might be too old to breed. . . but alas, about ten days after her due date, I came out to feed her one morning and sitting there next to Mama were two little babies. . . already with fur and open eyes!  I was shocked, yet overjoyed at the same time!  That doe had made herself a nest in the deep straw I had laid in her cage, but it wasn't visible at all!  I dug around some more and found another little cutie, much to my surprise!  Naturally, I gave God the praise, and He taught me a good lesson from this experience:

Sometimes, we pray and we don't think that God is doing anything, but the fact is that He is working, we just don't always see it at first.

I had given up, but those babies were there the whole time, right under my nose!  I am so glad that God blessed me anyway, with three adorable babies!  :)

God is continually blessing my rabbitry and I am continually thanking Him because without Him, I know this would not be possible.  So, when you feel discouraged, take heart because Jesus can turn things around for good if we'll only trust in Him, and He never fails!

GOD BLESS YOU!

~God made us with the ability to make our own decisions, though He knows what those decisions will be.  He wants us to trust and obey Him and accept His love, but since He gave us choice, He knows we will not always choose Him, for the devil is also out to influence our choices.  However, there is hope, for God sent His Son, who paid the price for our sins, restored our relationship with God and defeated the devil, so we have the victory through Him!  Isn't it awesome that God made us knowing that we would rebel against Him and that He would need to send His only precious Son to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins?

He loves us that much!
